This website is operated by Liam Carpenter, a freelance e-learning developer and web developer based in Nottingham, UK. For any privacy-related questions, email hello@liamcarpenter.com.
What data is collected and why
Server logs (Netlify hosting)
This site is hosted by Netlify. When you visit any page, Netlify's servers automatically record standard access log data: your IP address, the page requested, your browser type, and the date and time of the request. This is a normal function of web hosting — the same data any web server collects.
This data is held by Netlify, not by me directly. It is used solely for security and uptime monitoring and is not shared with any third party. You can read Netlify's privacy policy at netlify.com/privacy.
Email contact
If you contact me via the email address on this site, I will receive and store your message and email address in order to reply. I will not add you to any mailing list, share your details with anyone else, or use your information for any purpose other than responding to your enquiry.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of any kind — not for analytics, not for preferences, not for advertising. There is nothing to consent to.
Analytics
This site uses Simple Analytics to understand how pages are being used. Simple Analytics is a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool — it sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses, does not fingerprint visitors, and cannot identify individual users. It records only aggregate data: page views, referrer, browser type, screen size, and country (derived from IP address but never stored). No consent prompt is required.
You can read Simple Analytics' privacy policy at simpleanalytics.com/privacy-policy.
Third-party services
All fonts, images, and site assets are served directly from this domain. Pages load a small script from simpleanalytics.com for analytics (see above). The only third-party link is to my LinkedIn profile, which you choose to visit by clicking — no data is sent to LinkedIn automatically.
Your rights under UK GDPR
As a UK resident (or EU resident), you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data I hold about you
- Rectification — ask me to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask me to delete your data where there is no legitimate reason to keep it
- Restriction — ask me to limit how I use your data
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@liamcarpenter.com. I will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how I handle a request, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
If I add analytics, a contact form, or any other service that changes how data is handled, I will update this page and revise the date at the top.
